Horsepower Company started out of a passion for
Thoroughbred horses. For me there is no better breed on earth. I have
raced them, Jumped them, Evented them, trail ridden them, bred them,
taught lessons with them (including with my stallion Ministry) bought
and sold them all over the world. I have saved them from ill fate. I
have rehabilitated them from devastating race career injury (but far
from life threatening). I have helped them overcome poor treatment, poor
management and illness to become someone’s life long dream.
It’s been through my 21 plus years with Thoroughbreds that I have
learned so much about injury management and long term rehabilitation.
Proper Nutrition for every stage of a horses life (from birth, to
intense training, to rehabilitation, to retiree) These principles hold
true regardless of breed. “A horse is a horse is a horse” as the old
saying goes. However, no two horses are the same. Thus special attention
should be given to each and every one in order to ensure success.
Injury Management is not a life sentence! Years ago when I started out
in the horseracing industry I would see countless animals banished from
the tracks and show rings as the result of the simplest of injuries.
Mostly because of the owners/trainers lack or time, funding or
experience in PROPERLY managing the animals needs. That’s where
Horsepower Company shines. With proper management a vast majority of
injuries are manageable. The animal might not be a Grade I stakes
prospect as a result, but as an owner/trainer the goals set forth for
the animals future must be set according to his injury. Not to mention
the ability of his connections to manage the animals injuries or their
willingness to release the animal to a career field where he can become
more productive.
This far I have spoke with a lot of “I’s” The success of any animal in
the care of Horsepower Company is in the hands of many! My staff is well
educated in proper injury rehab, dealing with behavioral issues and
retraining for both on the track and off. (Teaching a horse to better
use their bodies and become more secure about themselves many times is
key to a successful return to competition) Our results speak for
themselves.
